When we talk about Honduras beaches, we can divide the country into three zones; two on the Caribbean coast and one on the Pacific coast. The most interesting and popular beaches of Honduras are in the Bahia Islands in the Caribbean to the north of the county. In the south Honduras has the Gulf of Fonseca on the Pacific coast with its mangrove swamps and salt flats. Honduras is a destination par excellence for lovers of diving; an underwater paradise awaits you if you go scuba diving or snorkeling here, and the second largest coral reef in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Honduras has hundreds of beaches which are perfect for diving, and enjoying the underwater marine fauna and flora. In almost all of these places you will find diving schools that will get you started and hire you equipment. In the Bahia Islands for example, many of the hotels hire diving out equipment and have qualified instructors at hand.
Diving can be described as the number one activity available in Honduras these days, in all points of the country's coastline. Coral reefs, crystal clear waters, good temperatures and diverse marine life…all this is waiting for you if you go diving off the islands or the mainland of Honduras. |
